Want to inspire your child to read? According to the TD Summer Reading Club, a joint initiative between Library and Archives Canada, Toronto Public Library and TD Bank, inspiration is just a page away: 1. 2. Keep your child involved. When visiting your local library, let the children pick out materials they are interested in reading. Comics, magazines, even baseball or hockey cards will help children improve their reading skills. 3. Make reading an everyday activity.Encourage children to read anything they can get their hands on - street signs, menus, recipes and books. These are great tools to strengthen children's reading skills. 4. Set an example. Let your kids see you read so they know that reading is important. Encourage them to talk about and describe their daily activities. And most of all - turn off the TV! 5. Join a summer reading club. Help children discover their passion for reading by visiting your local library and signing up for a summer of fun and learning. Programs like the TD Summer Reading Club offer a wide range of reading material, as well as fun-filled activities to keep children inspired to read all summer long.
