CIBC Run For the Cure 2009

CIBC Run for the Cure is one of the biggest fundraiser events taking place in Canada. Thousands of Canadians participate in Run for the Cure in 56 communities across Canada. Reasons for participating in Run for the Cure vary from person to person, but all participants share a common goal of creating a breast cancer free future.

Taking place on October 4, 2009, CIBC Run for the Cure will be hosting it's eighteenth year for the run. CIBC has 6000 volunteers to make this year an even bigger success than Run for the Cure 2008. In 2008 there were 13000 participants and $3 million raised.

Run for the Cure is all about creating a future without breast cancer. Most of us know someone that has been affected by breast cancer. It is estimated that in Canada alone 22300 women and 170 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and there will be 5300 deaths in the year 2009.

With this information alone we can see the importance of Breast Cancer Research and Awareness in Canada.The Canadian Cancer Society is a leading Canadian volunteer based society to help the needs of Canadians with Breast Cancer, and furthering Breast Cancer Research.
