5 Do Nots During A Job Interview
By: Tracey Herriot
The Five Do Nots During a Job interview. When the job hunt is almost at an end, and the interviews are starting, there's a few dont's to avoid. If you are wondering if the one behind the desk will notice, they certainly will. Here are a few tips to help you ensure to land on the perfect job.

1) Don't be too Sure You've Landed the Job

(Article Continues Below)
-Feel excited after having a great interview? If it's Friday afternoon and you start your new job on Monday it's probably not the best plan to start texting everyone that you are hired. Remember when you start most jobs you are automatically on probation for the first while. Yes you are hired, but this is your trial run to see if it's the job for you. If the new job doesn't work out, you might be a little embarrassed. It is also advised that you are cautious when adding a new post on myspace, facebook, and twitter pages. A good percentage of employers are now starting to search their candidates on the web.

2) Wearing a Strong Scent

-Fruity smells and strong perfumes are great when going out with the girls, or picking up that hot guy at the bar. However stinking up the whole office at a job interview could be a problem. It's not the place nor time to smell fruity or delish. In attempts to try to be flirty with the boss, it could backfire. In fact it makes you look unprofessional and not business like at all. The perfumes and scents can be distracting. Instead of remembering you for your real skills and assets to the job, he will remember you for your perfume. A lot of companies now have fragrance-free policies. There could be other members at the offices with allergies. It's best to make friends with what could be your next set of coworkers.

3)Talk Poorly About Your Last Employer
(Article Continues Below)

-It's okay to talk about a few things you disliked about your last job, but don't go deep into the details. Especially when talking about your last management team it is important to say the bare minimal. Believe it or not is quite possible that your last employer is somehow connected to your interviewer. Concentrate on how you are "perfect" for this job, rather than your last job. Try to say things like, "there could have been more communication from the management team", or" there were a few areas that could have used some improvements."....and avoid comments like, "my boss was an idiot." This is a great way to show the interviewer that you will not bad-mouth the company, and you good when working with others.

4) Forgetting to Breath

-Selling yourself for the job is great, but talking too much during an interview can be a turnoff. It's okay if you have a lot to share, but make sure you are paying attention to what the interviewer wants to know. Talking nonstop can make you appear as though you are not a good listener, that you would not be able to follow tasks correctly, and that you are into yourselves. You want to be an employee who can follow tasks correctly,is a great listener, and is respectful of those around you. Ask intelligent answers that follow up and relate to the topics and questions you interview is asking, and look for keys that indicate the type of candidate they are looking for.

5) Too Friendly with the Interviewer

So maybe the boss seems super laid back and by her choice in attire has the same taste in fashion as you do. This does not mean you should let your guard down. It is important you stay professional. Sending "whatever", and "I know right?" comments could make you employer feel that you will not take his or her authority serious when on the job. Sometimes it can be tough to know how to react when a boss is super casual, but during an interview since it is the first impression of you, you want to let the employer know that you are serious about starting a job, and will take the job serious when you are hired.

Getting hired a new job can seem like an easy task, however it is important to stay professional. Don't spread the latest news of your new job until you've been there for a reasonable amount of time, relax in the fragrence department, and stay calm during the interview to make sure the interviewer has time to ask you questions. Always stay on the positive end when speaking about previous employer, and lastly keep a professional relationship with your boss. There you have it the five donts in an interview. Good luck Job Searching and be confident when Landing on that Perfect Job.
