Improve Your Summer Look By Giving Yourself a Pedicure
By: Tiffany Provost
Your twinkle toes have been hidden away all winter. It is the time to get them pampered and ready for the summer. Follow these easy tips to achieve beautiful summer feet.

Begin with a long soak. Get your feet into a tub of hot water for a long soaking. At least 10 minutes will be enough time to moisten the dry skin on your feet. Take off dead skin cells with a pumice stone. When you are done, dry your feet off.

Put on moisturizer. Once you have soaked, you will love the feel of the lotion on your feet. After soaking your feet, rub some lotion on them to keep them smooth and soft.

Trim those toenails. Your next thing to do to get your feet ready for summer is to get your toes in shape. Clippers are the best tool with which to trim the nails really well. To prevent ingrown nails and injury, it's important to trim them evenly. Follow by filing your toe nails with an emery board when your nails are dry, of course. Your toenails will appear less square and more curved as a result.

Apply a hydrating lotion to the cuticles. Cuticles on the feet need some love too. Apply a ready-made cuticle moisturizer to your toe cuticles. If you can't get hold of any, any beauty oil will do the trick. Push back your cuticles when you're finished to expose more of the nail bed.

Apply some polish to your toenails. You should apply some toe nail polish to add to your summery look. Bright colors are playful but you should be happy with what you choose. Enhance the look by applying clear polish. Wipe off excess polish off the brush and evenly paint the toenail with initially one stroke down the center and then each side. Re-trace over any gluggy or bare areas a second time with your brush. Then apply a second coat after the first coat has had a chance to dry. After both coats of polish have been put on your toenails, it is a wise idea to put another clear coat of polish on top. This will prevent your handiwork from chipping or fading away. Also, it shields your fingernails.
